Nowhere am I going to urge you that it is necessary to keep up perfectly with all the different categories of elected, appointed, and ordinary hired government officials and pray every day. I don't manage to do so. Even if I did, then I might feel proud about it which would most likely hinder my prayers -- not leaving me much to feel proud about in reality. The goal is to pray and work to increase the visits to the American Prayer Calendar, encourage other blogs and sites to link to it, and encourage more and more Christians to use it. The more people that use it, hopefully (and prayerfully) with increasing faithfulness and frequency, the more there will be a persistent pattern of prayer developed for the persons and categories of persons mentioned as suggestions. Relying on outstanding prayer performance by a relatively small number of people would only encourage the devil to work harder to hinder those persons in their prayers, which he has many well-proven ways of doing. Relying on ordinary but growing faithfulness by us ordinary people to maintain relatively consistent prayer coverage on the basis of statistics makes it harder to block or hinder our prayers - the devil may block a few and miss many more because of the randomness. Again, it's a matter of "turnabout is fair play." The devil has caused enough havoc and hindrance and headaches in American political and social life through the use of statistics to create impressions of widespread public support for controversial politicians and/or policies through the selection of small samples of people. It's only fair we should cause havoc, hindrance and headaches for him.
